We can only accommodate non-violent offenses.

Community Service hours start at 8:00 AM, 7 Days a Week. Please bring any forms you were provided for your Community service.

Please sign in with an employee every morning at 8:00 AM. (We can provide a time sheet if one was not provided to you. Please remember, if you don’t sign in, you will not receive credit for those hours.)

Guidelines

Please wear appropriate clothing, no short shorts, no open-toed shoes, tank tops, or large earrings or chunky jewelry. It is best to wear pants and tennis shoes or boots if you are working with dogs in the kennels. It is a good idea to bring an extra shirt if you happen to need it. Please don’t’ wear your nicest clothes, wear items you will not mind getting a little dirty!

We have a water fountain and refrigerator, but we do not have a snack or drink machine. Our suggestion would be to bring a refillable water bottle, and snacks of your own. You can take a lunch break after four hours, you must work a minimum of two hours at a time.

  • While performing service at EVHS, you will do as you are told. Failure to comply with instructions or disrespecting employees will NOT be tolerated! This may/will result in forfeiture of hours!
  • Failure to perform assigned tasks satisfactorily may result in forfeiture of hours.
  • NO TOBACCO/VAPING USE ANYWHERE ANYTIME WHILE YOU ARE ON THE EVHS CLOCK/PROPERTY! PERIOD! FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION AND FORFEITURE OF HOURS!
  • Working here is a privilege, not a right. NO two-for-one hours! What you work is what you get! Do not ask for extra hours. PERIOD. You are responsible for keeping up with your time (i.e. getting signed in and out) and cumulative hours. If you don’t like working with dogs or cats, you don’t need to be here!
  • Change and use gloves in all rooms, also change gloves between each animal to control the spread of infectious diseases.
  • If you have any questions about cleaning of the rooms, the guidelines are posted in the back of the room and also near or on the door.
  • Make sure all cleaning supplies and tools are put back in their original location and that sinks are clean, and trash taken to the dumpster.
  • If you are unfolding paper or doing other things at the table in the lobby, please stop and clear the table if customers come in and are filling out paperwork for adoptions.
  • Also, if items are brought in (food, cat litter, etc.) stop unfolding paper and assist or bring the items into the building
  • IF YOU FIND A SICK ANIMAL PLEASE LET AN EMPLOYEE KNOW SO WE CAN CHECK ON THE ANIMAL TO SEE IF THEY ARE ALREADY ON MEDS OR NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION.
  • DO NOT DISPENSE ANY CLEANING SUPPLIES. GET WITH AN EMPLOYEE TO GET THOSE SUPPLIES.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. No short shorts, no open-toed shoes, tank tops, offensive graphics or large earrings. Keep your pants pulled up; the public does not want to see what style underwear you are wearing.
  • NO CELL PHONES. Leave them in your car or at the front desk.
  • If you leave the property for meals, your time will be docked while you are gone. If you leave and bring the meal back the time will not be docked if not extended time-wise (10-15 minutes). When you get up from the table, take any food or drinks with you!
  • If you bring your meals with you, your time begins AFTER you finish eating.
